3 ways to get out of your head and relax

Life today goes on and on. It is busy because we are always available, and everyone always counts on our attention. Due to the high pressure of work, social contacts, and our own choices, it can sometimes be difficult to find some relaxation in everyday life. Nevertheless, it is extremely important to give our bodies and minds the rest they need. Without this rest, it can become too much and thus detrimental to our mental health.  A good balance between busyness and rest is therefore very important. Do you want to know how you can add more rest to your life and make rest a priority? Then read on!

Put your phone away

Many people think about it but few actually do it; put your phone away for a day. Putting your phone away will give you a lot of time. You might get bored, but this is actually a good thing. This way, you consciously give your brain a rest and free up space to work on something you have always wanted to do but never ‘had time for’. Maybe there is a true Picasso hidden in you! Just try it sometime. If you can’t do it for a whole day, agree with yourself that for the first hour when you wake up and the last hour before you go to sleep, you will not touch your phone. In this way you will have the first hour and last hour of the day, completely for yourself. This will give you much more rest.

Sports reduces stress

It may not make as much sense at first, but exercise actually reduces stress and is therefore a good way to get out of your head and relax. It is a tip that you must first try out to understand. But if you have done it in the past and have forgotten it: try to think back! At the gym or during your exercise class or training session, you are only concerned with your workout and not at all with other things. This will give your head the peace it needs. In addition, exercising makes your body produce substances that make you happier and lower your stress levels. It Is a golden tip because of the many advantages it offers. It is a real win-win for both your body and your mind.

Make sure you sleep enough
It sounds very logical, yet many people underestimate how important sleep really is. The average person needs at least 8 hours of sleep a night. When you sleep enough, you suffer less from fatigue, you lower your stress hormones, and you are therefore less stressed during the day. Finally, you are also much kinder to your fellow man and you have less craving for sweets, which benefits your physical health. Sleeping well and especially long enough is therefore extremely important and will only bring you benefits. Do you have trouble with falling asleep? You could try drinking less caffeine. Caffeine suppresses your natural production of melatonin, a substance you need to fall asleep. Have you tried this and still not succeeded? See if you can find something in the sleep range of a smartshop. They sell many natural products that are beneficial to sleep.
